Our Story
Beginnings
In 2017, work began in earnest, with the ground being cleared and plans drawn up.
With the challenges of waterlogged ground, hard clay, and existing vegetation to be overcome, these plans had to be constantly redrawn, adapted, and revised.

The field prior to any work.

An example of the hard-baked clay soil summer that turns into bog in winter...are we mad?!

The central pond under construction.

A blank canvas.

The newly excavated lake.
Taking a well a well earned break.
2. Growing the Garden
With the outline of the gardens established, planting could begin
A majority of the plants you’ll see have been grown from seed or propagated in our greenhouses and grow tunnels.

3. Full Bloom
After 3 full growing seasons, almost all of the beds have now matured, with full coverage and vibrant colours.

4. Going Forward
We never stand still at the Grange, and have a number of jobs to do:
Having rebuilt the pagoda, we are now in the process of planting and training roses along the structure, creating new design features. This will take a while, but will be worth the effort, in the end!
Then onto our 2nd job and 3rd job and 4th jobs…etc! All needing immediate attention - but guess what, ‘work stress’ is not in our vocabulary, so all jobs get done as long as we keep smiling.
So watch this space closely!
